The Netflix App on my Xbox does show that its in 5.1 and does play with surround sound. If I play a show or movie its not in surround sound. Sometimes big movie titles are lacking a 5.1 soundtrack on Netflix.

There are many movies/shows in the Netflix catalog however that do not have 5.1 sound. Going to the audio options within the show/movie also doesnt show its available.
